Thoughts and Prayers

Our blood is red,
Straight ahead it runs,
In tons,
To the heart that beats

It performs feats,
Incredible and at times strenuous,
Yet even it can be disingenuous,
And deceiving,
If receiving green instead,

The value of a human life,
Can be summed up best,
By a test of luck,
Sucks for you
If the bullets path is true,
And you knew nothing,

I drew a line,
Between the end of a gun,
And the heart that beats,
Run children run,
Lest you get caught,
I thought the children,
Meant something to someone,

No one cared to mention,
That tension shouldn’t be
A constant reminder,
Pack your binders,
Your lunch,
Your homework,
Your books,
And your pistol,
Because these are the things you need,

Our creed reminds us,
Of the things that bind us,
But what is most essential
And consequential,
To some it’s God,
To others liberty,
And to others, it’s lead,
Its powder, and power,
Cower in fear,
As you hear the claps
From my fully automated friend,
Applauding the end,
Of your worthless target,
Of your worthless animal,
Of your worthless life,

Strife from war,
Should only pour,
From the soldiers eyes,
In quiet messy tears,
In the middle of a night,
From muscles that are tight,
And a heart that beats
Red blood,

Flood the presses,
With bloody messes,
On streets and hallways and concert sights,
Rights rights rights others reply,
Fights fights fights others cry,
I would have shot him down,
Parade me around town,
Give me my crown,
And honor me the hero
I killed a man,
And made him bleed red blood,

The 2nd Amendment is in need,
Of sacrifices to satisfy
The men that quantify,
Lives with thoughts,
And tears with prayers,

Tears in our seams,
Are deep in their dreams,
As conflict rises again,
Send the same letter,
no better or worse,

Our thoughts and prayers are with them

Perhaps some action
Could give us some traction,
Let’s change a lyric or verse
But send the same letter,
no better or worse,

Our thoughts and prayers are with them,

Nothing can be done,
When it comes to a gun,
It’s either blessing or curse,
Just send the same letter,
no better or worse,

Our thoughts and prayers are with them,

Far from the wails,
Of mothers or the sales,
Of weapons to those that kill,
Lets send the same message,
no better or worse,

Our thoughts and prayers are with them,

Our freedom is tame,
We must proclaim,
It’s never been tainted in blood,
Lets send the same message,
no better or worse,

Our thoughts and prayers are with them,

Our blood is red,
Straight ahead it runs,
In tonnes,
To the heart that beats

It performs feats,
Incredible and at times strenuous,
Yet even it can be disingenuous,
And deceiving,
If receiving green instead,

If you’re only out for your own head,
If you ignore the bullets in the dead,
If you’d take money over lives to get ahead

Then my thoughts and prayers are with you
