Those Words They Say

Location

Hips, ribs, and collar bones;

Never hurt by sticks or stones.

Words made you this way.

"I can't stand myself!" you say.

You think they're right,

You think you're wrong.

"Keep it up,"

"Soon I'll be gone."

Get help now, don't delay.

Overpower those words they say.

Flesh, blood, and metal blades;

You cry, as your life fades.

"Maybe today is the day..."

"I can't stand myself!" you say.

You think they're right,

You think you're wrong.

"Keep it up,"

"Soon I'll be gone."

Get help now, don't delay.

Overpower those words they say.

Peers, tears, and loved-ones,

Congregated by the dozens.

"I loved you," they say.

"Why did you have to go this way?"

They weren't right,

They were wrong.

They kept it up,

And now you're gone.

I wish I helped.

I wish you stayed.

Please, overpower

Those words they say.
