Those Days

Those days when words can’t express

In desperation, I write anyway

No longer concerned with chasing the clock

or hiding from the night

or even climbing to the top

Instead

Recognizing the good when it comes

and letting the bad go as it may

Giving myself a hand instead of expecting

someone else’s to fall into place

Not trying to fix what isn’t broken

and instead wearing what I have

floating instead of skimming

Forgetting my doubts

Remembering my assets

Holding on to the fact

that I don’t have to hold on so tight

giving the world permission

to fall from under my feet

saying goodbye, but knowing

I’ll be back on the ground tomorrow
