Things You Can't See

Location

No one is perfect in all that they do,

But I have my own strengths,

And you have yours too.

I use my art to be who I am,

My words and my pictures,

Shared so others can understand.

I'll paint you an image, or put words on a page,

Yes, I'm imperfect,

Yes, I feel rage.

Maybe you'll see that as I share my story,

I seek to learn more,

Not to gain glory.

To show you my art is to show you me,

To read you my writing,

Is me trying to be free.

The world tells us we're wrong and we don't look the part,

But what's more important,

Our looks or our hearts?

The curves of a smile are the best of all,

They gladden the heart,

Make it harder to fall.

Imagine if everyone cared more for things you can't see,

Who someone is instead of their looks,

Or what their job might be.

People are people, fundamentally the same,

Yet everyone's different,

In looks, color, and name.

Beauty is nice, but it can be only skin deep,

How about we find something else,

Maybe something we can keep.

Most things that are flawless according to me,

Aren't things of the world,

But things you can't see.
