The Things In Our Reflections

Mirror Mirror, on the wall,

What's gone wrong with it all?

People crying, people screaming.

The world itself is teeming,

With war, pestilence, and death.

Why can't it all just take a rest?

People make dumb mistakes.

And yet the world goes and takes,

Everything you've ever loved,

All because of one mess up.

Mirror Mirror, you show the soul.

It scares people because they know the toll,

Of every wrong they've ever made,

And everything their eyes have laid,

Upon whether right or wrong.

Mirror Mirror, tall and revealing,

You can tell us what we're feeling.

Happiness, rage, sadness, remorse.

All meaningful of course,

But most importantly,

You reflect everything.

People people, it could be clearer,

But what do you see in the mirror?

Do you see jolly Santa Claus,

Or every one of your flaws?

Do you see a happy life,

Or one that's filled with pain and strife?

Do you see what you hope to achieve,

Or everything you shouldn't be?

As for me...

I'm somewhere in between.
