They say to sit down,
want me to shut up.
They say I'm too young,
I can't know.

Tell me I'm ignorant,
I'm naive.
But I am experiencing,
right here, right now.

So how can I not know,
how can I be ignorant.

They point out my gender,
and raise their eyebrows.
I am a girl,
so they say I am less.

Tell me I can't,
I shouldn't.
But I know I can,
and their logic fails.

So why should I not
stand up and shout?

I will not be still,
I will not quiet down.
They cannot push me around,
put me down.

I know,
I know,
I have every right
to do the same things they do.
