Thank You For All You Do

Dear Mom and Dad,

Thank You.

For all that you do.

I know I can be difficult,

But thank you for your patience.

I am so eternally grateful to have you both.

Thank you for giving me all the things

You yearned for in your youth.

Thank you for giving me electricity.

For providing me with books, pencils, pens and paper.

All the things that were valuable rarities to you as children,

You made sure I had an abundance of.

Thank you for giving me food,

All the things I love.

Chocolate, rice, and spice,

All the nice dishes you rarely tasted.

You made sure I had an abundance of.

Thank you for giving me education.

For sending me to school,

And making sure I learned.

The very thing that saved you both,

You made sure I had an abundance of.

Thank you for supporting me in all my dreams,

For giving me guidance and encouragement.

All the things you never got from your parents,

You made sure I had an abundance of.

You believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself.

You picked me up when I was down.

You threw me a life-line when I was drowning.

You gave me courage.

You taught me.

Thank you.

Thank you for your love.

Thank you for your wisdom.

Thank you for your support.

Thank you for your courage.

Thank you for loving me despite all the disappointments I have given you.

Thank you for never giving up on me.

Thank you for being the best Mom and Dad

That I could ever have.
