Quality education is valuable
A chance for equality, autonomy
Learning skills expandable
To receive a living honestly

But, often, in my country
The opportunity for knowledge
Is wasted for we’re not hungry
Many students will go to college

Where clean water is a rarity
Poverty, violence goes unmitigated
Billions live in utter disparity
Education isn’t anticipated

When school shootings are prevalent
How blessed I’ve been to receive
A safe education despite my petulance
I can reach my dreams and achieve

There is more to strive towards
To attain less system prejudice
Increase funding for school boards
So all can experience development

To educators I’ve not shown appreciation
Learning without joy just getting through
Your service has my respect and admiration
I don’t say it nearly enough. Thank you.
