Thank U Depression

I’m stuck here running into a wall,

then staring at the ceiling.

My “friends” could care less if I fall.

The world to me is black and gray,

it’s full but seems so empty.

This weight on my back is heavy.

Thank U depression,

Thank U isolation,

Thank U desperation,

You helped me write a great story.

You helped paint the portrait of me.

There is no praying here.

This world believes in power and science,

no peace for the religious.

You need to speak your mind in silence.

Thank U oppression,

Thank U aggression,

Thank U repression,

You were a part of my journey.

You helped make something of me.

But even after all this pain

it’s still really quite funny.

The sun shines brighter after rain.

The rain both hurt and healed me.

Thank U expression,

Thank U imagination,

Thank U progression,

You really are the best of me.

You’re really the building blocks of me.
