Thanatos

Have you ever cuddled with death?
Ever lay in bed and feel her breath cascade down your neck flirting vertebrae along the way?
Ever feel the hypothermia settle in as she traces your body with dexterous, frigid fingers leaving layers of permafrost upon your skin?
Ever hide the love bites she leaves behind after all those insomniac night?

Maybe you’ve tasted her promises
She blows acrid covenants into mouths between interlocked jaws
Feel it slither down your throat leaving your stomach brittle and frostbitten
Maybe you’ve felt them on your back
She etches contracts on your skin with a whetted tongue
Line after line of empty, sinuous shapes consuming your body

All too common depression become the insomniac’s aphrodisiac
All too common suicide becomes a seductive mistress
