The ball has been in your court
And I’ve been patiently waiting for you to serve it back
But I’m tired
Of the water breaks
Of the time outs
Of the sub-ins
I just wanted one game
That I figured would probably be over before it started
But would be fair
And civil
And actually a challenge at times
But our score went
15-love
30-love
40-love
And now I’m bored
And my racket has fallen to the ground
And I’m not sure that I want to pick it back up again
Because my ready stance has started to look ridiculous
And I’ve reached the point that I just want to forfeit
Because even though I can win this game
You’ve got the match
So whether I finish this one
Or walk away now
I choose to lose with my dignity intact
