Tell Me Poetry

Tell me poetry

Why would I write for you?

I stare hard at the blank lines, demanding

You're a wielder of words, they whisper

A smuggler of dreams, a teller of secrets

And your point?

The empty pages smirk

Didn't you want to find the lost, inspire the defeated,

Strum heart strings to a finer tune?

Tell me poets, if the pages renounce their rights to you

Give you freedom to express, with possibilities wide open-

Wouldn't you take on the risks?
