Table of Contents

Location

I want to read your table of contents

I want to read our last page first

I just want to know if this is going to be worth it

Or if we are going to end up hurt

I want to know what page you first notice my smile

And when you’ll get the nerve to ask me to dance

I want to know what page you start to have feelings

And what page you feel like you have a chance

I want to be able to turn to the page that you first kiss me

And be able to read how you felt when you got home

I’ll compare it to how you felt at the very end

And see how far we’ve come

I want to read your table of contents

And see when you decided between wrong and right

Which page you decided it was okay to hit a woman

When was a bottle of captain worth the fight

I want to flip to the page that you realize what love is

And if you thought it was me

Or was it the girl who would text you late at night

And would tell me not to worry

If I could shake your hand and be able to read

About the monster that lies under your skin

I’d step away and forget you

Before we could even begin

I want to read your table of contents

Because just maybe I don’t have to push you away

I wouldn’t let the past ruin my future

Just because I’m scared of what we might say

I want to read your table of contents

But never judge your book by its cover

We could save ourselves a lot of time

In this journey of a lover
