symbiotic vs parasitic

Sat, 09/19/2015 - 21:01 -- shel

I bubble from the ground like a river,

race down the mountains to your ocean
like a glacier in the spring.

You are quietly tumultuous,
you are always.
And I keep pouring myself into you
but you remain unchanged -

the same ebb and flow,
the same understated vastness
which never fails to touch my soul
with each swell of every wave.

Someday, I worry,
I will run dry.
I will pour the last drop of myself into you
and you will not even notice

what is a drought
to the endless sea?
