The Switch

It was rarely used

My excuse never felt alive

Everything that I said

My voice, even the look in my eyes

Unspoken sociological rules

Everything I felt, I wore outside

I didn't care

My voice was shattered

There was no want to survive.

What was a smile?

Unanswerable and long.

My hands were always cold

Unlike your eyes

Unlike your songs

Lies lies and lies

Not even a fake pass

I never spoke

You always did

And you somehow managed to make life less black

Queen of dark and bright colors

My enemy

My friend

Ying yang

The switch

Epiphany

Amends

What was a smile?

You came

And it escaped

Crisp clear

So slow

The switch you

liberate
