Survival of the Fittest

You do not know me.

You only know the parts of me I have shown you

And what a shallow view that is

It's staring into a puddle and thinking it the ocean

I keep it this way

To win your favor

But you do not like me

You only like the reflection of yourself you see in me

Outer calm

Hides inner turmoil

It's a smokescreen

I am lost

In this world of artificiality

Our true selves lie buried under fear

Of appearing vulnerable

Of sharing an intimate part of ourselves

Revealing insecurities and flaws

So we lock it up deep inside

Portray the falsities of a "perfect life"

What animalistic tendency is this that we prey on the weakest?

We rush to look strong,

Perfect

So that we ourselves will not be that unfortunate victim

Society has adapted to Darwinist ideals

And humans are humans no longer
