Super Hero: An Elegy

Location

Long gone are the days when my delicate hand fit into your protecting one, and you

                were my super hero

Long gone are the days when a magical kiss from you on my boo-boo made the pain

                go away

Long gone are the days when you could swoop down from the sky

                and save my day

Long gone are the days when I believed that all the words you spoke were golden truths,

                because super hero's don't lie

Long gone are the days when you were my super hero

Now I know that your magical kisses can't fix a broken heart or a broken family

Now I know that you can't always swoop down from the sky and save my day,

because I have learn to do it myself

Now I know that not all you say is golden truths, because super hero's CAN lie

Now I know that you can't be my super hero because the illusion that came with childhood

eroded away by the pain of growth and age

Long gone are the days

when you were my super hero
