Sunlight

Do you know I love you?

Because I love you.

I never knew it could be like this.

You take my hand, smile,

And I feel whole again.

I love you in a way that is different.

It’s like I could spend all of my days with you

And we could still hold a conversation.

I love the way your warm eyes seem to glow with amber,

When the sun hits them just right.

I love the way my cheeks hurt after

Time well spent with you.

We can turn a trip to the grocery store

Into an adventure,

And our adventures,

Turn into those that they tell stories about.

You and I,

My dear,

We’re thick as thieves.

We’ve told each other about parts of our past,

That we used to keep silent.

For with each other we feel a way that can only be described as

Comfortable.

We trust and lean in,

My secrets aren’t secrets with you.

You love me in a way that is so beautiful.

You hold me as an equal,

And always put my needs ahead of your own,

When I need it most.

When the day is dark and cloudy,

You’re my sunlight.
