Suddenly- By: Isabelle Cogger

Suddenly

By: Isabelle Cogger

I sat down beside her,

Trying not to cry,

Her hand met my hand,

One final, last goodbye.

Tears welled in her eyes,

For she knew what was to come,

She reached beside my face,

My heart ran still and numb.

She pulled her hand away,

And reached into her pocket,

Connected to a linked chain,

Was a tiny silver locket.

A gasp escaped from my mouth,

It was nothing compared to anything,

Of all the things from now on,

This locket would be my everything.
