That Stupid Question

it was like that flakey pi
always divided, subtracted
their estimation became errors
emotions scattered and multiplied

his lust was the square root
of her tainted attraction
stability was on a descending slope
with too many unforeseen factors
yet, a graph of unexplained laughter
when they found the solution
there was forever another problem

her plot settled on “x”
while his traveled on “y”
the sequences never seemed to connect
they were one complicated inequality
limits rarely existed to them
areas of boundary lines crossed
when they lived in opposite directions
leaving an empty center but constant crumbs

that circular passion was never quite rational
