Stuck In Love with Love

Location

Once there was a little girl

With blonde curls and wide eyes that shined like a pearl

She sat alone waiting for

Her carriage and prince to come knock at her door

As she turned the pages of her books

Fairy tale endings became a hook

Dragging her into a fantasy

Of ball gowns, true love, and vanity

But time went by

And still no kiss

No promises from

Mr. Charmings lips

Soon that little girl

Could stand it no more

The want for passion

Burning from her core

Longing for the taste

She quickened love’s pace

And now,

Due to her clumsy, clouded, misled haste

She’s stuck in love with love.

As if love is a race.

She wanted her frog to be a prince

So blinded by want she was convinced

That the first guy to cross her path

Was destined, and fated, a love meant to last.

But time goes by

And we say things we don’t understand

Taking our time to do what we can

To make ourselves happy in someone’s hand

You’re stuck in love with love.

So let’s take a breath

You don’t need someone

To feel like you belong

Because you can love yourself more than anyone.

And the bruises on your arms and face

Should prove to you, this is a love misplaced.
