The Struggle

Location

No matter what you do
You go through obstacles
If you want to be successful
And make things possible
First steps were tough
Learning to walk
Some did that before
They could actually talk
Then came words
And putting them together
Never knew that this important skill
Would so beneficial to forever
Next in line
Was going to school
Crying when your parents left
Throwing tantrums like a fool
And then came elementary
Good grades and friends
Times that adults
Wished never would end
Then came middle school
Where people searched
For their paths
Never knowing their identity
Because they're wearing different masks
And after that was high school
Where kids loved to fight
There's never a day without one
There was always a sight
But not just fights
There's kids selling drugs
Saving money for Jordans
Polos and UGGS
But through the fire you graduate
And have made it through the worst
Thank God its on your feet
And not in a hearse
Enrollment in college
And acceptance letters
You've got some loans
But scholarships are better
But push comes to shove
And you're taking the loans
You'll have to pay it back
With the skin off of your bones
But 3 years in college
You think about changing majors
And then you think about
All of those the 10 page papers
So you continue in your field
And then you graduate
Finding a job should be easy
It'll be fun to anticipate
After almost 2 years of searching
You've finally found a job
Its in downtown area
At least you're not a slob
But you're calling people daily
And reminding them of debt
Paying back your loans?
You surely shouldn't fret
Because life is a struggle
It wasn't meant to be fun
But the struggle has always been there
Ever since day one
And when you have your kids
You can teach them to live in a bubble
That way they can avoid
This everyday struggle
