Streets

Everyone is watching,

While many were marching.

The pandemic stalking,

While our government continued balking.

While the boys in blue,

Killed the men born black.

We sat on the edge of our seats,

As the rage filled the streets.

Raising our fists in the hot night air.

While our cries for justice reverberated,

Throughout every walk of life.

The protest grew and sprouted.

Throughout the world the massed shouted.

The meek had become the powerful.

The power lay within the desire,

To end the oppression that kept us quite for far too long.

The time is due to break from the chains that bind our minds.

Time to unlearn the lies that have been used to keep us brutalized.

Time to see our neighbors as brothers and sisters.

As our family of one race.

Time to raise against the powers that be.

The powers that need,

To keep us divided.

Praying that we will never stand united.

The whole world is watching.

The whole world is watching.

The whole world in marching.

The whole world is marching.

Our oppressors are running in fear- As the masses,

Run towards the gasses.

Run at the harm,

Standing arm in arm.

Occupying the airwaves.

Our fists silhouetted in the gases.

That have been used against us.

Shouting what’s her name?

Showing who is to blame.

Everyone is watching

While many were marching.

The election looming.

The fear eluding.

The change is in the air.

For we will no longer live,

In quiet despair.

Our truth, our revolution has begun.

The American renaissance is afoot.

This revolution will be fought with our words and our minds-

              Sans the gun.
