To a stranger with whom I share blood and not much else

Will you be there when I die?

Or will the time just pass you by?

You always say “I’ll see you soon”

But that’s a lie

If I was walking down the street

And you passed me by

I wouldn’t know it

I doubt you would either

It’s not as if you don’t have a choice

To come see me

All I have of you is your voice

Distorted by the telephone

Years have come and years will go

I’ll grow up and you’ll grow old

And though I’ll always love you so

I wish I knew you
