Stranger

Location

I thought you were the victim

Crying behind the hands that shielded your eyes

Wondering exactly why I gave into your lies

Trust

Something we were supposed to have

Something you were supposed to keep on your behalf

And at times you laugh, like everything is supposed to be okay

But it wasn’t

Telling stories & making me believe that we shared blood

& for 12 years, you told me no differently

So I ran into your arms like all this time we we’re meant to be

But in reality you were just a stranger

Walking into my life without any sense of danger

But now that I know,

I’m no longer ignorant of what you tried to keep from me

And even after, you tried to hold on

But it was time for me to be free

From you & your lies
