Stone Walls

Surrounded by Stone Walls,
Emptiness no life to hear.
Pesky weeds there and here,
With nothing but cement,
For accent.

Life ensues behind the Stone Walls.
Cars roaring, children playing, trees growing.

But not inside these Stone Walls.
Trapped.

Abandoned equipment gives memories to the Stone Walls,
Once was.
What should be.
Now home to dust.

Freedom from these Stone Walls is what I dream,
When I see puffs in the sky.
Lush, never-ending green,
Crickets chirping,
Birds singing,
Clouds the only darkness seen,
But brings a breeze,
So pain is eased.

When these Stone Walls close in,
Shut your eyes,
Dream what could be.
Should be,
Behind these Stone Walls.
