Stereotypes

Lets pretend I’m you and you’re me. Okay so we switch places and now what? How does it feel to be another race? Not fun huh? Why not? When you sat there stereotyping me because of my race, religion, origin, things didn’t seem so grim now did it? Okay lets take off the cloth on the mirror. You see me and I see you.  I’m fatter than you, skinnier than her, taller than some, shorter than most. But wait, you thought that all of us were the same huh? No, I’m not from Africa and my parents and other family members weren’t slaves. Being “black” doesn’t make me “ghetto” or “hood.” I am actually smarter than you think. I’ve managed to get ahead in life. Surprised? Yeah I could tell. But then again I should be too. Your mind is so provincial I’m surprised you even have the guts to look at me. To look at us. Don’t let them fool you. Don’t let them brain wash you. It’s okay to have your own opinion, but when it comes to stereotypes, please keep that to yourself. As “my people” would say…..”ain’t no body got time fo dat!”
