Stains

I gave you everything I owned
And you seized it, without reserve.
You took me down, down
While watching from your perch
As I drowned in you.
Gasping for air, yet not wanting to be saved
See, I loved those thrashing waves of you,
And the fire in your eyes
That I could never extinguish.
Maybe one day I’ll finally be able to distinguish
Between red and blue instead of only seeing hues
Of violet in you.
And I’ll graffiti my body with the most beautiful words we spoke,
And pray, that that will be enough to fade
The burns from our love that stained my skin
And soaked my clothes with the scent of you.
Cause you drenched your soul into my pores,
Injected your voice into my veins,
Tattooed your name onto my skull,
And with such ease that I almost felt no pain.
Cause I fell, and fell, and fell into you.
But of everything I've even known to be true,
I know it’s time for me to take my heart back from you.
