Stage Fright

Location

I walk on the stage beginning to shake,

Adrenaline pumping through my veins.

The lights above so hot my skin could bake,

Anticipation takes over my brain.

My cast mates around me seem like a blur,

Passing me as I stand frozen in place.

The curtain rises and I see the crowd stir,

Spotting among them a familiar face.

My anxiety melts away quickly,

Morphing into my character at last.

Hiding who I really am so slickly,

Putting on a new façade in contrast.

After a while my stage fright disappeared,

All that remained was the crowd and their cheers.
