Spoken

Silence is the real menace

Cause it will weaponize our fear

And one day turn back around

To when my friends were all here

Billy went to fight in the war

And didn’t return the same

Sally became addicted

And got told she was to blame

I read through my history novel

And saw lights where they beam

Joan from France fought for God

And Martin Luther had a dream

But what became of them

Those who spoke and fought for change

My silence forfeits my right

To question why life is strange

When I live in a place

That lets so much hatred thrive

I search through time and space

On who I thank to be alive

Thank those who speak and fight

And shout and march and die

For Billy, and Sally, and me

They are trying to save our lives
