The Speck

Location

Sitting on the dusty ground;

looking, eyes scanning, always prowling for the little black speck.

The little black speck that shows life was here,

Here fifty million years have passed,

and all that is left is the little black speck, tooth, jaw, bone;

of a monkey, carnivore, or rodent.

When I am a paleontologist, this little black speck,

this will determine my future.

My future as a dentist to those living fifty million years in the past.

I want to make discoveries, papers that publish my findings.

I want to be known as the paleontologist that gave everything to discovering life.

My motto will live on, "Find jaws, write papers!".
