Think of the words

Think of the scenarios

All the ways this can go

Words so heavy they become my cross

Let out those words

Maybe they’ll really help

Maybe they’ll carry your burden

Share their weight

But the words push down your tongue

They reveal a smile instead of the dread

The burdens I’d hate to share

They’ll just continue to be my cross

I pray my life is full of laughter

To see happy ever after

There are some days

When it seems out of reach

All the heavy words

Pulling down on my spirit

I see the day when

Everything will change

These words will become

Nothing, formless, a breeze

I’ll smile

Not because I can’t speak

But because I say them with ease
