Sonnet #USA

Day in and day out, the tension rises,

What does our red, white and blue really mean?

Can we avoid this terrible crisis,

Or will our fear prevent the twilight gleam?

I recall when we weren’t so divided,

Lying I could say I didn’t miss it;

That would make me seem more undecided.

In truth, I wish we could simply forget.

Our Great Fathers wanted only the best,

It is my regret that we act this way.

Perhaps we should recall that we are blessed,

And remember- they before us, did pay.

     So, let us forget our territories,

     And share our unified prides and glories.
