Sometimes people try to determine your life
Sometimes they tell you what mistakes not to make and you can’t learn
Sometimes they push you down with their words so you can’t get up
Sometimes they try to tell you your dreams and you’ll never be happy
And sometimes they tell you that you’ll never get anywhere in life
And you’re dumb so you believe them

Sometimes people try to determine your life
Occasionally they do but we let them
So we listen to them; get nowhere in life
We cry and complain
We blame others for our faults
Until we try life for ourselves

Sometimes people try to determine your life
And you go with it for awhile
But then you take a stand and try to figure out
This thing called life on your own
But what if you never stand up for yourself
