Someday Soon

light filters through the shades

and my heart starts to pound;

i am awake,

and my consciousness burns.

touch is sensitive.

sheets around my legs feel cool and comforting,

and my mind swirls.

today is a day like all the others--

breakfast, school, lunch, school, home, sleep

breakfast, school, lunch, school, home, sleep

breakfast, school, lunch, school, home, sleep.

my vision is blurred as my eyelids submit.

i see the windows, hear movement outside.

it's as if i'm transported:

a cosy apartment in a busy little town.

plants hanging from the ceiling,

music playing from a stereo in the background.

my mug of tea is hot, and i sip it calmly.

he is making breakfast in the kitchen.

i'm on the balcony, watching the world wake up.

it's early. i don't mind.

life is busy. i don't mind.
