Some Things Never Change

Location

The sand maneuvers its way between my toes as if that is the place it was always meant to be/ it sticks there and stays in that place for days until hands force the tiny grains to leave/ scrubbing my feet to be sure that every last grain is gone/ The uisance that the tiny grains are to me is greater than/ the amount of leaves that floot to the ground come early october/ I should learn to avoid walking across the sand/ but as a child there was nothing that I loved more to do than build a city out of the tiny grains/ joy crosses my face when I realize/Ten yeats have passed/ Life is drastically different/ But some things/ Some things never change
