They think I'm happy

But that's a lie

A whirl of emotions trapped inside

I have weak walls and when they're struck

Sometimes I shed a tear.

Or two.

Or three.

All alone, deep inside where no one can see

I'm considered an actor (at least in my mind)

where I'm forced to play happy for infinite time .

But when I lose grasp on my self-determined role

I'm considered uncaring.

Unkind.

Cold.

Only a few can see past the deception

I've so carefully crafted with

an abundance of tears and illusions.

My soul screams to be free.

But never can it be.
