The "Social" Generation

A rectangular object that fits into my hand,

An object which contains information from all around the world

Technology has given this object a name

A smartphone

This object that fits in between the L's of my fingers controls the teenagers of the world with a click

We become so absorbed to the point that we are turned into walking zombies

Posting, Tweeting, Snapping and Texting are our expertise

We have practically forgotten what life was like without them

Can you imagine having to get up without an alarm or sending a message to someone far away without your phone?

The world was a much different place then,

There were children playing outside even when it was cold out,

Teenagers on first dates chattering away with the feeling of butterflies in their stomachs hoping not to say anything stupid

An adults inside talking over coffee and driving about without a distraction.

Now the world is a scary and sometimes dangerous place

The streets are practically deserted with children on their ipads and computers inside

Teenagers still on first dates but now they correct their stupid mistakes with #autocorrect

Adults getting in accidents from being on their phones while driving and watching tv all day

We are so consumed into our own technologies that we really forget how to be social with others.

When was the last time you had a deep connection with someone and really talked, without technology

It was probably while you were still in elementary school

But that’s all in the past now, we can't change what has happened

Well I say no, that's not true at all,

If we got our heads and minds out of this entranced state

Nothing can stop us from being a community of people

But until we lift our heads and really open our eyes

There is no reason for it to stop,

Look I'm not anti-technology by any means,

But sometimes we all see it does more harm than good

My generation was more effected.

We traded our social lives for "social networks"

and Laughter for LOL's, ROTFL,'S AND LMAO's.

Have you ever heard the phrase,

Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it?

Well I don't know about you but I'm not going to be some kids history lesson.
