So Much as Me

I once loved a girl;
A girl that no one could love, oh, so much as me.
I saw her every day,
Wearing those emotions that no one could hope to see.

After a time of just it just being us,
A boy took her away.
I could not do anything.
Compared to what he promised,
I would only become a mere memory.

The times continued on.
I still saw the girl that I loved, oh, so much.
She no longer saw me, though.
No, just the faint image of what used to be.

I called out for her,
but I received no reply.
I only saw her walk away,
As if it was her goodbye.

In time, she left the boy.
Yes,
The girl I loved, oh, so much.

I looked into her eyes,
And her into mine.
We touched our hands,
Perfectly aligned.

Though things had been lonely and bleak,
We smiled the same smile,
We were, again, complete.

Things are never quite clear,
More obscure.
However, I keep fighting,
Because I know I will see her again,
When I look in a mirror.
