so long little brother (until next time)

Location

as time approaches near

moment of truth awaits

every inch closer to the destination

emotions spinning like the wheel of fortune

but this is not earning cash or prize

this is about my nephew leaving

to a place that is more quiet

than a breeze blowing by the shores

upon arrrival

i saw him and his family packed

i understand the urgency of why

it's about a new opportunity

to expand one's horizon

it wasn't time yet

the bus kept making u-turns

after u-turns

gave all of us a chance to share

one last laugh

one last story

one last moment

until the bus pulled up

i knew it was time

my best friend told his son

to watch out for them fast girls

i told him i love him

keep in touch

what's crazy is

i made more of a connection to my nephew

than my actual niece and nephew

who don't even know my name

as he aboard the bus

my best friend broke down

i hugged him and didn't say a word

silence is the remedy

that spoke in high volume

it was all about love and support

as i headed home alone

took the train by myself

i was digesting what just happen

i understood why they moved

you see

he comes form a place call brownsville

for those that dont know

it's in brooklyn

they sometimes call the village

the village i know is all about cultural diversity

the only thing diverse about brownsville

is the type of guns victims are going to get killed with

on a friday night, it's a handgun

saturday afternoon, it's an oozie

sunday morning, it's a shottie

i just pray that

he stands out and not fit in

he listens and absorbs all that was convey

that will keep him from being a statistic

everything that was said will pay off

so long little brother (until next time)

may god protect you and your family
