Snowglobe

Location

Once upon a time

there was a little girl

who lived as if

inside of a snowglobe.

She would stand and look

out the window at all the children,

running and playing and laughing,

and she would reach out

as if to touch the world.

But the glass was in front of

her fingers, an insuperable

barrier that she could not cross.

She wanted to run and play and laugh

too, but she was too shy.

She always hid behind the curtain,

like the wizard in her favorite book,

because she was afraid.
