The Smilin' Sun

Location

The sun was smilin’

When I buried my daddy.

The sun was smilin’ with her sweet irony.

Not a cloud in the sky.

No lightenin’ in sight.

Even the weather don’t care about me.

There wasn’t no rain when I cried,

No thunder when I hollered.

My daddy walked out the door

And didn’t look back.

There wasn’t no goodbyes.

He said he’d return,

But he didn't even look back.

And the sun kept on a-smilin’.

And the world kept on turnin’.

Not a cloud in the sky.

No lightnin’ in sight.

Seems like daddy don’t care about me.

The sun was smilin’

When my daddy left.

The sun was smilin’

When life took my daddy from me.

The sun was smilin’

When I buried my daddy.

Still alive in life,

He’s died in my mind.

But why

am I

the one who feels dead?
