A Smile

When I see her smile

I know I can’t call it genuine

Everybody else might,

Might mistake it for

Someone who is always

Smiling, but don’t realize

That she’s hiding behind

This mask, scared.

She doesn’t want to let

Anyone see her scars

That fall from her eyes.

She’s good at hiding

It behind a smile,

But when I’ve done it too

It’s clear as day.

I don’t know why but

I really want to get to know

Her. For her. For everything,

Everything she is, will be, or

Has been in the past.

I want to get to know her

Because not only does my

Gut say but my heart says

That something about

Her is right. Something,

That I don’t understand.

So hopefully one day,

I’ll get to see her for all

She is. Maybe one day,

I’ll call her a bestfriend,

My bestfriend, girlfriend,

Partner, Lover, Wife.

But who knows for sure.

All I can say for now is,

That she’s hiding,

Hiding her scars and tears.

But at least with a beautiful Smile.
