Sleeping Beauty's Dream

Mon, 08/28/2017 - 19:28 -- Falada

How long had she fought this war?
For time meant nothing anymore,
Betwixt the quiet of induced slumber
And the roar of dreamworld thunder.

She always had been known as fair,
But here she need avoid the stare.
Before, her looks caused suitors’ yearning,
Now the gaze was red and burning
From thousands of robotic eyes
When fixed upon their victim, dies.

Her comrades battled far and near,
Bedecked with warrior’s shining gear.
Swords were singing, deadly choirs,
Sparks were flying high like spires.
Faithful friends joined her attack,
The bravest one had hair of black.

Mirror mirror on the wall,
Snow White would be the last to fall!
Despite the beauty she possessed,
To Snow it could not matter less.
She only craved sweet victory,
To stop this endless misery.

They fought together with conviction,
Having passed through much affliction.
They trust each other with their lives
The bond upon a soldier thrives.
Fair is fair, and tough is tough,
And both girls had more than enough.

While Sleeping Beauty scanned the splay,
Snow white fought boldly ‘cross the way.
Pushing back with all her might,
Her aching muscles strained too tight.
With one wrong step her ankle twisted,
She fell, alone, and unassisted.

Sleeping Beauty saw her stumble
And started racing through the rubble,
Breathing heavy clouds of dust,
She clambered over mounds of rust.
The mass of metal her path hinders,
Lest her friend be ash and cinders.

Before she could cry out Snow’s name,
Her midnight locks burst into flame.
Alas the fairest in the land
Collapsed, sword tumbling from her hand.
The pain she felt could fill an ocean,
While metal foes showed no emotion.

Why...Why...Why? Why!
Why’d her best friend have to die!
Each cry a word that formed a sentence
Proclaiming her new thirst for vengeance.

Why had the fiends grouped up so tight
Around a yonder orb of light?
What was it that they fought protecting?
Like insect minds as one deflecting
Every soul that strayed too near
The glowing, heated, pulsing sphere?

It was there that Snow had fallen,
Perchance drawn there like bee to pollen,
Sensing that within the light
Was weakness that would end the fight.
That place where foes were so protective
Now became her one objective.

All their power was locked in store,
Within a single heated core.
“I cannot kill them one by one,
But one right move and all’s undone.”

Hefting up her glistening weapon,
She took great strides in its direction.
Adrenaline rushed through her veins.
Deep down she knew ‘twas worth her pains.
Each swing her blade extracts a toll,
Her eyes transfixed upon her goal.

Kicking, twirling, slashing, churning,
It seemed as if the world was burning.
At last she’d broken through the hordes,
Her wake a heap of steel and chords.
Her weapon raised above her head,
“This is for you!” she boldly said.

Her long lashes fluttered sleepily,
The morning light cascaded dreamily.
Birds twittered happily in the trees,
While open windows caught a breeze.
In the bright, cool, sweet of morning,
Her mind kept screaming out in warning.

Blurry vision could not hide,
The handsome figure by her side.
A Prince of gold and velvet robes,
Gripped in his hand a single rose.
His face was smeared with dirt and smoke,
But when he smiled her heart was broke.

“Why'd your lips do this to me
When I was nigh to victory!
My final blow thrown to abyss
By your unwelcome, stolen kiss!”
