Sleep is Great and Essential

Time is nearing the end of the day,

Yet my homework is causing all this delay.

Soon though I will find myself to my little den,

Before the clock strikes ten ten.

Then when I begin to fall asleep oh,

My pulse and breathing start to slow.

Invisible brain waves become irregular now,

And then my conscious will take a bow.

By ten twenty I'm in for a ride.

But who knows where I'm going to glide,

Am I going thru the day which I have already gone through?

However the process I do know one thing that's true,

And that is while on this coaster ride,

My eyes tend to slowly roll from side to side.

Yet somehow my brain does a likewise thing,

Shifting from high to low waves like when birds sing.

Late in the night at ten fifty when all is normal,

I think I near the end of the trip formal.

The unconscious path is not an easy one

For slippery slopes can lead to the bottom of the coma cone.

My today's actions being processed again, yet

Tomorrow will forget 80% of my actions I bet

All the while, inside my brain still is fired

Large amplitudes sweep like commands wired.

Finally I reach the end of fun,

I quickly look around to see the sun,

My eyes move rapidly towards the light.

It has been a long ride in the height,

My legs feel heavy and I try to lift them.

Can't! I'm paralyzed by a metal stem,

Which locks me in the coaster seat.

And so the ride keeps repeating...on an endless beat,

Until I finally slow to a stop on the last mile

And wake up with a recharged smile.
