Family is something near and dear to us all

But it's definition is one we can't quite recall

Some say it's those connected by blood

But what about the children who are treated like mud?

Those who suffer from abuse and neglect

Can it be called a family if there is no respect?

Some say family is decided by the president

But to be a family do we need documents?

From marraige and divorce emancipation

Would there be no family without legislation?

Some say family consists of those who care

But alterior motives are always there

What you have is everything that they lack

They smile in your face, then stab you in the back

Despite the questions

One thing remains true

My definition of family

Will always include you
