A Sinking Ship

Picking up the pieces along the way,

The crew tries desperately to save the day.

Leaving the mast behind,

They block the past from their minds.

They look forward, with rum in hand,

Thinking of the sun, the beach, and the sand.

Aimlessly, they voyage ahead,

With not one clear thought amongst their heads.

So, off they go in a ship that's dying,

And not a care they carry, for they could be flying.

Alas, just wait a moment or so,

For they will not go far, you know.

And as the broken mast floats away,

The ship continues to sink, day-to-day.
