Silent Night

The orb of day fades softly into night  Gray blanket clouds sheathe earth in cold embrace  Fahrenheit drops as Boreas awakes  Swirling in wind, flecks of ice take flight  Shifting and reflecting in dim lamplight  Frigid flakes sift softly through onyx space  Only time cannot touch this snowy place  A wintry wonderland of dormant life  Clad in fleece, shivering against the cold  I stand mere witness to a change unique  Crystals of white quickly conceal the ground  I realize, in time, no matter how old  I will strain to hear wisps of what I seek  Exhales of Winter, in silence, have sound
