Silence Kills

Location

I’m a whirlpool,

No,

A thunderstorm,

No,

A category 5 hurricane,

Of thoughts, and hopes,

Of memories, and dreams,

Of puzzle pieces and star dust.

But everything stays silent.

“Speak,

Scream,

Say Something,”

My brain says.

But everything stays silent.

They’re hurting him again,

And it’s worse than words this time.

The kicks and blows don’t bounce like letters,

They score and scar his skin.

I have words,

And I have letters,

But everything stays silent.

A white boarded box,

And a bright purple necklace,

A halo above his head.

I shake, I cry, I beg him

Wake up,

Speak,

Scream,

Say something,

Say anything.

But everything.

Stays.

Silent.
