Signed, Sealed, Delivered to Fate

Dear Fate,

Look into my eyes

After all your pressures of time

And see how I have grown

In the adversity you have thrown.

I was a little girl

In a big, big world

And yet you were relentless

And are still a hell-bent mistress.

I was born with little hearing

And yet my parents were caring

Despite your stinging grip

On their child's fingertip.

You sought to make life hell

With a single dreadful spell

And sure enough, my parents fought

With their thread tied by a lone knot.

And you hurt my siblings, too,

With your curses and woo,

Breaking all our hearts

And tearing our worlds apart.

You gave my sister an illness

And my brother had a death wish

While my other sister had anxiety

And yet we stand in society.

You sought to take my father away,

But he still talks to me today,

And my mother has become my best friend

Despite all you did to them in the end.

My great-great grandparents, they are gone,

But in my heart, they live on,

And while you ripped them out of my book,

We began a new chapter - we needed to look.

And the bullies, they came

And you tossed on me rain

And took my only friend

I will never see again.

But in the face of it all,

I have stood proud and tall,

And when you shoved me down,

I came back around.

Fate, you are strong,

But I'm where I belong,

So I will stand here and be free

No matter what you throw at me.

Fate is my master,

But I, not her slave.

I am a warrior

And I will always be brave.

Sincerely,

Melody
